Exhibition: Travelling TreasuresSchedule to be confirmed.Various schools and local libraries in Outer metropolitan and regional centres of VictoriaThe State Library of Victoria's collection experts take to the road in 2009 with a selection of our treasures. Visiting regional public libraries and schools, the Travelling Treasures program offers children and adults alike the chance to see some of our most precious collection items. Included in the treasures will be a third edition (1861) of Origin of species and Part three of the Zoology of the Voyage of H.M.S. Beagle, a volume on birds that was written and illustrated by John Gould. Darwin's close observation on the voyage of the variations between the bills of finches was part of the trigger for his thinking about natural selection. |
